From a human-centered perspective, a model is a “system of thought,” and modeling is the “design of a system for thinking.” Models are highly useful in describing and predicting phenomena. A model may be defined as a symbolic representation of an environment or the real world, aimed at forecasting outcomes, exploring executable options, and selecting the best alternative. In essence, a model is a simplified representation of a complex structure (system). Due to the internal interactions among its components and their external interaction with the environment, such structures often exhibit varied and sometimes complex behaviors. The purpose of modeling is to enhance our understanding of complex phenomena and processes in the external world. In reality, a model is an analytical tool that enables us to grasp not the entirety of reality, but its meaningful and intelligible segments. «مدل» یکی از مفاهیم اساسی فلسفة علم و معرفت‌شناسی معاصر است. با نگاه انسانی، مدلْ یک «دستگاه اندیشه» و مدل‌سازی «طراحی دستگاهی برای اندیشیدن» است. مدل‌ها در توصیف و پیش‌بینی یک پدیده بسیار مفیدند. یک مدل، یعنی نمایش نمادین محیط یا جهان واقعی به‌منظور پیشگویی پیامدها، گزینه‌های قابل اجرا و انتخاب بهترین گزینه. درواقع، مدل نمایش ساده‌ای از یک ساختار (سیستم) پیچیده است. ساختار‌ها به‌سبب تعامل درونی اجزای آنها با یکدیگر و تعامل بیرونی آنها با محیط، پیوسته رفتارهای مختلف و گاه پیچیده‌ای دارند. هدف مدل افزایش فهم ما دربارة پدیده‌ها و روند‌ها‌‌ی پیچیده در جهان خارج است. درواقع، مدل ابزاری است برای تحلیل و آنالیز واقعیت‌ها که با کمک آنها می‌توان به درکی از واقعیت، نه کل واقعیت، بلکه بخش مفید و قابل فهم آن دست یافت. https://pajohesh.nashriyat.ir/sites/pajohesh.nashriyat.ir/files/article-files/2018171-1748933619.pdf
