Research Methodology in the Human Sciences

Conventional humanities are based on non-religious epistemological foundations. These foundations are not compatible with Islamic principles, and for this reason, the application of these sciences in Islamic societies faces fundamental challenges. This research has been conducted with the aim of explaining the role of philosophical secondary intelligibles in shaping the epistemological foundations of Islamic humanities from the perspective of Allamah Mohammad Taqi Misbah Yazdi. The research method is descriptive-analytical and based on the study of his works. Philosophical Secondary intelligibles, whose prominent feature is that they do not convey a specific nature but signify existence and the mode of existence, play a central role in certain foundations (such as the possibility of certain knowledge, foundationalism, and responding to epistemological skepticism). These concepts establish a connection between intuitive and acquired knowledge and provide the grounds for the validity of human knowledge. Based on the research findings, an accurate understanding of philosophical secondary intelligibles is considered an essential prerequisite for the transformation and Islamization of the humanities.
